This collection serves an impressive introduction into the works of Joseph Lanner, the famous friend and contemporary of Strauss. Lanner extended the Waltz – once a short dance piece, into an artistic complete work consisting of an introduction, a sequenze of dances and a finale. These four piano arrangements are prime examples of these refinements and demonstrate his much-admired inventiveness concerning the Viennese Waltz.
